Tennessee Voters Advance School Choice Champions
The American Federation for Children, the nation’s largest school choice advocacy organization, congratulates the candidates who support educational choice on their successes in Thursday night’s Tennessee Primary elections. The election results are in line with numerous public polls that have found strong support for school choice.
Statement from Shaka Mitchell, Tennessee State Director for the American Federation for Children:
“Thursday night’s results show that primary voters headed to the polls to support reform-minded candidates who are not afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to education. Notably, as both sponsors (Sen. Gresham and Rep. Dunn) of the landmark ESA legislation will retire this year, the Tennessee Federation for Children PAC-backed candidates in both districts won their respective primaries. Perhaps now more than ever, parents are seeking options for their children, and several races across the state bear that out. This is a win for school choice, and for the families who desperately need it. We are happy these candidates prevailed Thursday and congratulate them on their victories.”
Unofficial results indicate the following candidates will be victorious:
TN House 3 – Scotty Campbell
TN House 16 – Michele Carringer
